Just what you need to know!
My friend, who would always lose to me with the black pieces (1...e5) against my trappy Italian opening lines, one day decided to play 1...c6 (Caro-Kann) against me. The ultra-aggressive gambit aficionado in me already started to lose confidence. Despite gambiting two or three pawns, I had to succumb to the solidity of Caro-Kann and eventually found my king humiliated against his three queens on the board.
The more I played against him, the more I realized he wasn't playing a random and so-called passive 1...c6 just to make me uncomfortable in the opening. He had strategic reasons for doing so. On one hand, I hoped for him to hang his pawns or pieces; on the other hand, with every move, he was achieving some strategic goal, such as a compact pawn structure, a bishop-pair advantage, or at best, a pawn or even a piece—all with concrete planning.
That was the first time I looked at chess from a totally different perspective, such as strategic thinking, long-term planning, or minor-piece imbalance. He was generous and selfless enough (yes, you read it right; otherwise, he could've kept this amazing resource to himself and watched me lose every time) to share the Chessgoals site with me. Not surprisingly, Caro-Kann is my first-ever course on this site, and I am also determined to learn other content, including the free Chessgoals content on YouTube.
Thank you, Matt and Jesse, for creating a gem of a course. Also, my friend deserves applause for being a 'true' friend. :)

A Comprehensive Guide to Improving Your Chess Game by Learning the Basics of the Caro-Kann Defense
Gives detailed explanations of the Caro-Kann Defense's solidity. Line suggestions result in Black often withstanding White's attacks and maintaining a solid pawn structure. Despite being a defensive opening, the Caro-Kann Defense can offer Black some counterattacking chances, especially in the advanced variation.

New Respect for the Caro-Kann
Good job, men. I've played the opening many times through the years without a full (or even respectable) understanding of the basic theory. I had no idea of the attacking potential. Just to mention one: pushing the H pawn when white moves the Queen Knight to g3. I never thought of that. Thank you both for this course. I want to go through it again before going deeper.

Love the ChessGoals philosophy
This is my second course from ChessGoals. While I am still working through the first one (1.e4), I am finding that I love their approach. Simple, clear explanations, with a focus on the most common moves at the club level, and finding less-common lines that play easily with a big advantage. And not so many lines that the memorization work stretches out forever. Solid ideas at the end of each line, good explanations along the way, and I know that what I work hard to learn is something I am likely to actually see and use. What's not to love?
I am also impressed with Matt and Jesse, who seem to take feedback very seriously. I offered some feedback on the other course, and got a personal response from Matt! And he said he is looking to use the feedback in future courses to make them better. I'm sure the ChessGoals team is too busy to give personalized attention to every course buyer. But I am quite pleased that after I worked hard to research my questions and offer useful ideas, Matt worked hard to address those ideas and respond.
Full Caro-Kann course, here I come!

Ten lines show where to the journey goes
I liked how the two presenters didn't beat around the bush in some critical lines (Advanced Variation and Tartakower Variation) and very often at the end of a subline they give the plans and piece placement.

I found this just as I was starting to build and study my first repertoire. I really appreciate that you provided us, not only with at least 10 moves from the top 10 lines, but clear explanations of the focal points and plans for continuing. Thank you Matt and Jesse! Your enthusiasm is really infectious :)

Excellent Quick Start
Excellent short version of Caro - Kann opening. Very simple and understandable for the beginners and probably enough useful for the expirienced players. Many ideas are fresh and interesting striving to go out of the usual and many times already seen lines.
