    Great course!

Much simpler and easier to remember than comparable courses on Chessable. Well researched. Great job!

Best Caro-Kann for an Club player

Want some solid lines with a bit of an offbeat feel? This is the Caro-Kann course for you! Matt and Jesse do a really nice job explaining not just the lines, but the ideas behind the positions.

Practical, Solid and Logical Approach to the Caro-Kann

Excellant course if you want to learn the Caro-Kann. I have taken several courses on other sites (e.g. Chessable) but found the ChessGoals approach to be the best. The main reasons I liked this course include the following: (1) most lines are only ten moves deep (2) not too many variations to remember (3) Matt and Jesse cover the most commonly played moves and (4) video explanations are done well and reinforce the material. Took me only a week to get this down properly and I have already had better success with the Caro-Kann versus my historical approach of the hyperaccelerated dragon. This course is suitable for playing against players up to 2200 (my lichess rating 2308, chess.com 2105). Final suggestion is to use Chessable to upload the course material. It is by far the easiest approach to master the variations.

    Caro-Kann Gold

I'm an adult learner that just came back to chess after a 20 year absence. Times have changed, or at least Matt makes it seem that way. Gone are the days of studying 1000s of lines in books and figuring out plan. Matt lays out a complete system, with similar lines and leaves you with a treasure trove of plans to get you through the middlegame. I never played the Caro-Kann in my youth and now I question that choice. Matt makes the Caro crystal clear and honestly it's hard to go wrong. I highly recommend this course if you are looking for new openings for Black. You will not be disappointed.

    My favorite Caro-Kann course, ever

I have four Caro-Kann courses from various sites, and this is my favorite one for the beginner to intermediate level. Forget about the GM main lines. This course gets right down to reality, starting with the lines you'll most likely see in your next online game. No need to blindly memorize moves either. There's so much text provided that you'll understand why each move is made and remember the moves naturally and with purpose.

    Great Course!

I have spent so much time struggling to figure out what to play and these courses took all that worry and stress away from me. And unlike so many other courses, this one covers lines that people at my club actually play instead of only the stuff GMs play which has been a huge help!

    Fantastic Course

This course is very well put together without having to memorize 400+ lines like in the LTR Chessable courses. It is great for club level as I usually get these positions on the board. I am winning 59% of my games with this repertoire and a crazy 73% against the most common variation I see, the advance. The support is better than any other course I've taken. You will not regret taking this course!

    Solid without feeling boxed in

This course made the Caro-Kann my favourite course as black. While being very solid, the also makes sure that you keep the initiative whenever possible. Some other lines of the Caro-Kann I tried out before I purchased this course often gave me the feeling of being boxed in. It felt like my position doesn’t only lock the opponent out, but also like a cage that locks me in. The lines of this course on the other hand make sure, that you always have sufficient breathing room. I also appreciate, very much, that the promise to leave us with a plan at the end of each line is consistently fulfilled, and you are never left wondering what you might do afterwards The combination of Matt and Jesse as instructors (besides their personal chemistry that makes this course not only instructive, but also entertaining) works really well by combining Matts knowledge as a master and Jesse being able to bring up questions from the perspective of an adult-improver.

Finally a practical and effective approach for adult improvers!

I really appreciate the direction Matt and Jesse took with their approach to this opening and some good humor sprinkled throughout the course. This course is a practical, efficient and effective approach to the Caro-Kann defense. They did a great job curating the lines to maximize the success for club players, focusing heavily on lines club players will actually see in their games (as opposed to 2700+ GM battles). The course focuses on ways to actively fight white's plans, while maintaining consistent approaches to most things you will face. This approach helps make the memorization of lines easier. One overarching theme I really appreciate in the ChessGoals opening courses is a focus on active play. As an adult improver, this is something I had struggled with in the past. These courses encourage me to go out of my comfort zone and play more active/fighting chess from a position of strength - this has been a good confidence booster for me. Another bonus is that the Caro-Kann as presented in this course pairs really well with the Dynamic Slav course, with substantial cross pollination of ideas and even some transpositions. I can't recommend highly enough!

    Amazing. Absolutely Amazing.

This course is, as said in the title, absolutely amazing. It covers everything you need to know about the Caro-Kann, and prepared me for my future games. I'm only about halfway through the course so far, and I'm already seeing an improvement in my rating. I can't wait to see what will happen after watching the rest of the course! Matt and Jesse are very thorough with their explanations, and go quite in-depth. They give you plans for when you finish the line, which allows you to continue into the middlegame with great confidence. This was the first time I spent money on chess, and I'm so glad that I did. It may seem a bit expensive at first, but with a thirty day money-back guarantee, I can assure you that you will definitely be satisfied with your product.

THE BEST BALANCED COURSE ON THE CARO KANN

I’m a club-player rated 1200/1300 rapid on chess.com and 1700 rapid on lichess. Why do I think Caro Kann it’s so good? At club player level it’s only the 5th most popular response so your opponent won't likely be well prepared, and also it has the benefit of being an opening with well defined pawn structures and typical ideas you can learn and apply most of the time. 100 LINES ARE ENOUGH? I can sincerely say YES! Of course with only 100 lines some variations might not be covered (in my games experience I would say nearly 50% of games deviate after 7-8 moves), but this is not an issue at all! The course is so well structured that it goes either into the most played moves at club level and the most theoretically challenging lines, with always a very clear explanation of the middle game plans, the pawn-structure and the ideas associated, and how to proceed: the result is that you have only 100 lines but if well studied you have a perfect idea on how to manage all the structures and disposition of white pieces. Concluding to say that I have purchased a lot of caro-kann courses in other platforms, but at the end of the day I do only apply on studying and using this one. Best money / time saving / usefulness ratio on the web.

    Great Course!

The course offers a full set of responses for black for anything white plays against the Caro Kann. I especially think the ideas against the Panov attack are amazing and have already won me a few games. Each chapter is about playing dynamically and attacking/counterattacking early. They do a great job of aiming this at club players, but still keeping us in contact with the mainlines and engine recommendations. If you play the Caro Kann or want to play the Caro Kann get this one!

    Amazingly Efective (Yet Simple)

Unlikely other courses this one also looks into what Club Players are playing more frecuently and the best way to aproach it (sometimes looking forward more challenging practical chances over the best "machine like" response. Everything is very well explained and easy to learn. And a perfect fit of course with the Middlegames Caro Kann Course. Since getting this course I switched from 1.-.. e5 to 1.- .. c6 with great succes!

    Caro Kann

This course did awaken a killer instinct in that it is rich in original and yet subtle attack on the unsuspecting opponent. I fell in love with this Opening because of the way that Matt and Jesse did presentation, and with high win rate for me more so with the Tartakower. I would say its a club player dream not forgetting the richness of hidden Tactics throughout the Course. Well done M&J.

    Very useful course

This is a very useful course that covers major and minor variations of the Caro-Kann. The focus is on usable strategies that apply in several cases, and the recommended lines are those most likely to be seen at the club level, rather than master play. There is a lot of information, and the series will bear rewatching and review, but but the effort will be worthwhile. There is a lot of value here. Highly recommended.

    Great Course

This is a very in-depth course which is well structured into the various variations. Each variation is well explained with just the right level of sub variations. Their approach to offer deviations from the our main line to offer you an opportunity to challenge your opponent is a welcome option. I highly recommend this course.
